Where to Live?

If you could move, would you?
If so, where would you move to?
Why would you move to that location? Family, space, climate, safety, Good Gun Laws, Cost of Living.

I would move to  a place that had plenty of land and no one around for 50 to 100 acres. Grew a Garden, have Solar and Wind Power, Water Catchment System, Good Gun Laws, (If I want to go on my porch and shot a weapons I could and not worry about it). Good Hunting, Good Fishing, and a decent climate.

The places that I would narrow my list to would be TN, KY, OH, IN, and MO.

Be Prepared, Be Ready, Pray nothing happens!

Hawaii is not a great place to be when the SHTF but we have to do what we can to be ready and to be able to protect what we have.

Hawaii Hand Gun laws are very strict and ammunition is hard to get. With all the negatives we still have to be ready.

Keep your vehicles over 3/4 of tank of gas. That is an easy thing to do but it is something I am bad at but I am working on it.

Pick one thing and start today.  You can do this and we can get ready for what ever may come.

A lot of things are happening in the world and as we get close to the 9/11 Anniversary can we believe something may happen?

According to reports a lot of chatter has started up and the US is tracking it.  If something happens the impact can be real.

No Air Travel.
Run on Gas and other essentials

These are just the top two that I thought of but I'm sure you can think of more.

I am not one who hopes something will happen. I like the live I am living too much and don't want to live in a Society where I have to worry about Food, Water, and my Family.

But you need to have the basic and think about what you would do.

Monitor the news outlets, not just one news but several. (The internet and TV/Radios will most likely stay up for some time unless the power grid is hit)
If the power goes out use your cell to text, cell towers get over loaded quickly and if they have battery back up it will eventually fail.
Keep your vehicles full. Have extra oil for the vehicles, generators, etc.
Monitor the area you live in for changes.
Have the basic water, food, batteries, gas, generator, money, medicine, and anything else you might need. Don't forget pet food, medicine, and other pet supplies.
No your Local Frequencies for Ham Radio, AM/FM Frequencies and Scanner Frequencies.

My best skill is Ham Radio and Gardening. I took the Univ of Hawaii Master Gardener program. I don't grow a lot of things based on space but I have learned a lot over my time growing and that class helped a lot.

Earthquake and Storms

With the Earthquake in CA it is appearent that we should be prepared for something to happen. We had the storm in Hawaii in August and homes on the Big Island went 3 to 4 weeks without power.

Please don't relay on the Gov't, if they can help then OK, but you need to get prepared and be prepared to help your neighbors.

With the Fire we had in Makakilio people had to evacuate for a day, not too bad, but I use that as an eye opener to get prepared.

One thing I don't do well is keep my truck full of gas. I have a bad habit of running it to empty and then getting gas. I need to change that.

Pick one thing and work on it.

FBI, Homeland Security Bulletin Asks Police To Be Aware Of ISIS

FBI, Homeland Security Warns Police

Federal authorities sent a bulletin to U.S. law enforcement Friday in light of the threat concerning militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), according to CBS News.

The bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI cites no known threat to the U.S. homeland, but reminds law enforcement to be alert and aware of the ISIS threat, CBS reported.

U.S. law enforcement has been intensifying efforts to identify Islamic State sympathizers who could help export the group’s brand of violent jihad to the United States.

All is will take is a pandemic and air travel will stop and most shipment of goods will stop. That spells trouble for the Hawaiian Islands.

Why is HAM Radio Still Important?
In an age where communication is often taken for granted, it’s easy to overlook the importance of Ham Radio. I often receive questions like, “why would I need Ham Radio when I have a cell phone?” or even better are the people who say “the internet killed Ham Radio”. Let’s see how they feel about that one when they lose power, but I digress.
While, both of the above mentioned tools can be useful in an emergency, HAM Radio differs from these forms of communication in a number of ways. Probably the best reason I can give is that when the grid goes down, the HAM Bands will still be alive and very active. In fact, no matter how bad the disaster, I can almost guarantee HAM Radio will be one of the only forms of modern communication left standing.

I've set up my HF station to receive Weather reports in case the internet goes down and I'm working on being able to send email via HF Radio without the need for internet. This would help stay in touch with other HAM Operators who have set their stations up for this purpose.

Ebola virus is proving hard to control, standoff between Israel and Hamas, Russia and Ukraine, even unrest in the U.S..

Citizens are armed, people are prepping, or at least it seems more and more are prepping.

I recommend you continue to monitor all the news agencies and get prepared.
